History of The Bond
The buildings, now part of The Bond, date back to the 19th Century, with the former gasworks operational at The Bond between 1837 and 1875.
The main building is called The Ice House and was a 19th Century Victorian warehouse.
The other buildings are called The Arch, The Link, The Garage, The Gap and The Yard.
The Arch contains sensitively designed modern buildings alongside Victorian architecture from the 19th century. The Link was an industrial building constructed in the 1960s. The Garage was a former petrol station and car repair building. The Gap is The Bond's smallest building. The Yard is a former scrap metal works and now gated with an area for parking.
A number of cottages were located at The Bond, including one dated 1898 by Sidney H Wigham near the entrance.
