A Neo-Georgian building, built originally for Tube Investments in 1958-60 by Cotton, Ballard & Blow. It later became the Swallow Hotel, before it became the Marriott Hotel. In autumn 2022, they were renamed to Delta Hotels Marriott.

Marriott Hotel - history and details
Cotton, Ballard & Blow built a Neo-Georgian office building between 1958 and 1960 for Tube Investments, at Five Ways, between Harborne Road and Hagley Road in Edgbaston.

It later became the Swallow Hotel, and was where US President Bill Clinton stayed during the G8 Summit in Birmingham, back in 1998.

It had been part of the Marriott Hotels & Resorts chain of International hotels since at least the 2000s.

The 4* hotel has been next to a Morrisons supermarket (opened in 2012), and is near the no 1, 23 and 24 bus stops on Harborne Road. On the Hagley Road, it is near the no 9, X10 and other bus routes.

From autumn 2022, the chain has been renamed to Delta Hotels Marriott, and is now part of Edgbaston Village, as well as Calthorpe Estates.

Hagley Road view. The bus stops that used to be outside the hotel have been relocated since the Westside Metro extension to Edgbaston Village was completed.
