The Rainbow - history
It is believed that a pub has existed on this site since the 1760s, although the current building was built in the Gothic style in 1876.
The Peaky Blinders, a local criminal gang is thought to have regularly frequented The Rainbow from the 1890s. They later gave their name to the popular BBC TV series created by Stephen Knight in 2013.
The pub had been closed since 2017, but briefly reopened in 2018 as Finders Keepers, before the pub was closed again for two or three years.
From Autumn 2021, the lease of the pub was taken over by Nick Rendall and Trevean Anderson, the team behind The Cuban Embassy in Moseley.
It was leased by Stars Pubs & Bars, and the pub was refurbished at a cost of £750,000, with the aim of creating an independent live music and entertainment venue.
