About the National Sealife Centre Birmingham

The building opened during July 1996 and was designed by Sir Norman Foster. It is located close to the Birmingham Canal Navigations Mainline and is opposite Old Turn Junction (the Oozells Street Loop is also nearby). It is between Three Brindleyplace and Four Brindleyplace (and close to Central Square). At the time it first opened, it was the only inland sea life centre in the UK. There is over 2000 creatures here from all over the world. Various types of fish, penguins, seals, sharks, lobsters, crabs and more. In 2009 the Sensorama 4D Cinema opened, while in 2014 the Penguin Ice Adventure opened. The attraction is owned by Merlin Entertainments.
