This pub stands close to the well-known Gas Street canal basin, part of the city’s extensive system of canals.

Built in the 18th and early 19th century, the canals later became part of a national network which crossed the country in a figure of eight, centred on Birmingham.

During major sporting events, the exterior of the pub is decorated, such as a giant rugby ball during the Rugby World Cup in 2015

The Westside Metro extension was built along Broad Street from 2019 to 2022. It is expected that trams will run down here from Summer 2022.
