Bloxwich Station - A Walsall & West Midlands Gem!

Bloxwich Station is in the Metropolitan Borough of Walsall in Bloxwich. The present station opened in 1989, but a previous station to the south was open from 1858 to 1964-65.

Where is Bloxwich Station?

Bloxwich Station is at Croxdene Avenue, Bloxwich, West Midlands, WS3 2NY

In brief

An earlier station in Bloxwich was open from 1858, a few hundred yards to the south, but it closed to goods in 1964 and passengers in 1965. The present station was opened in 1989, as part of the first stage of reopening the Chase Line from Walsall to Hednesford. Since the Chase Line was electrified by 2019, trains here run from Birmingham New Street to Rugeley Trent Valley, usually with two trains an hour in both directions.

Prior to electrification, London Midland (until 2017) and West Midlands Railway (from 2017) used diesel Class 170's between Birmingham New Street and Rugeley Trent Valley. After electrification was completed north of Walsall, West Midlands Railway now use Class 350's.

Walsall is about 7 minutes way by train, while Birmingham New Street is around half an hour.

There is a sculpture on Croxdene Avenue of a semaphore signal.
