Five Ways Clock Tower - history

The clock tower was erected at Five Ways near Calthorpe Road and Harborne Road, Edgbaston in the late 19th century, to commemorate the first Coroner of the Borough of Birmingham, John Birt Davies (1799 - 1878), who took the roll in 1839, and retired 36 years later, in 1875, at the age of 76.

The clock outlived King Edward VI Five Ways School, which was located in what is now the middle of the island from around 1883 to 1958 (the school relocated to Bartley Green).

Seems like the clock has been stuck at 5:40 for quite a while, or the clock no longer works?
