The Brewmaster's House - history

It dates to around 1816, although some sources say even earlier to 1800 or 1805.

It was built as the owners house and office of a small brewery. There used to be a brewery on the site of what is now the International Convention Centre.

Derelict until the early 1980s, it was restored by Remo Granelli for the Birmingham Conservation Trust from 1983 to 1984.

At the rear was a former cart shed with cast-iron columns and a slate roof. It was glazed in and extended by the City Architect in 1989. .

The Brewmaster's House has been a Grade II listed building since 1978.
